If I Could I Would... (coming soon)
by Kellie Peters
A beautifully illustrated (with painted images blended with photo illustrations) picture book of a girl and her favorite stuffed animal day dreaming of all the terrific adventures they could have and eventually realizing that some of the greatest journeys are in their very own backyard in Maine.
She dreams of:
flying high in the sky, like an osprey or eagle and landing in a nest above the sea on the coast of Maine,
climbing to the very top of Mount Battie and waving down to the quite harbor town of Camden,
riding a chairlift to the top of Saddleback Mountain, where the trees are short and mounded with snow, and then skiing down,
going across the ocean to foreign lands to taste delicious new foods,
climbing to the top of the Eiffel tower to see the sparking city of Paris,
crossing a drawbridge into a 600 hundred year old castle and wandering through its rooms as though she were royalty,
floating down a canal in Venice, admiring the buildings, boats, and sights,
walking deep beneath the earth in a cavern in Germany, where bears share the space with stalagmites and bats,
hiking through tall pine trees with a family of Moose sharing the same hiking path,
sea kayaking in the ocean as a seal pops up to lock eyes and say hello,
white water rafting down the Kennebec river with exciting waves and fresh water spray to stay cool on a hot summer day,
trekking to the top of Seguin Island to climb up the lighthouse tower and admire the amazing light that keeps so many ships safe,
and sitting on a peaceful sandy beach, on the darkest of summer nights, staring at the millions of stars in the sky.
